A guided winter walk for families through the Crane Beach dunes on Castle Neck in Ipswich, one of the most accessible dune landscapes in New England. A Trustees guide points out the plants and animals that survive this harsh habitat, from pitch pine forest to natural cranberry bogs, with lookouts toward Choate Island, and keeps watch for winter migratory birds and the elusive Snowy Owls that visit the dunes. The family version is shorter in duration and length to suit children age 5 and up. Dress warmly in layers with sturdy footwear for sand. Offered on weekend mornings through December.
