Zoo New England's field conservation team leads free guided nature walks through Franklin Park as part of its Biodiversity Walks series. Walkers look for small critters, birds and local plant life and learn about the wildlife and ecological features of Boston's largest park; the zoo invites outdoor enthusiasts, students, families and curious minds of all levels. A phone with the iNaturalist app is a plus but not required, and observations can be shared with the Franklin Park Biodiversity Project. Walks run two hours, 10am to noon. Come dressed for the woods with long pants and sturdy walking shoes. Pre-registration is required, and the exact meeting spot inside Franklin Park is sent after you register. Walks are cancelled in bad weather, so check the zoo's page on the morning of the walk. Best for school-age children who can manage a two-hour walk.
