Get close to the Boston Park Rangers' mounted unit at the Arnold Arboretum's Hunnewell Visitor Center. Rangers give a behind-the-scenes look at how they groom and care for their horses before heading out on patrol, and talk about the history and natural features of the Emerald Necklace parks the horses cover. The city describes the hour as family friendly and for all ages, which makes it an easy outing for horse-loving preschoolers and school-age kids. It runs from noon to 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 24 and is free; dress for the weather since part of the program is outdoors with the horses.
