About this adventure

The Massachusetts Horticultural Society's 18th annual Festival of Trees fills the Garden at Elm Bank with holiday displays for five weeks. Inside, dozens of themed Christmas trees decorated by local organizations and families line the tree room, and visitors can buy raffle sheets and drop tickets in front of the trees they would like to win. Outside, the garden is lit with holiday lightscapes and photo spots, and every paid ticket includes hot cocoa on arrival and a s'mores kit to roast at the firepits. A favorite with children is the Snow Village Trains room, where HO and O scale model trains run through miniature scenes of Boston at Christmas, Fenway Park and the North Pole, with tiny skaters and hidden Santas to spot. Entry is by timed ticket and families can stay until closing, so plan an evening visit when the lights are at their best and dress for time outdoors.
