A 45-minute nature story time for children ages 2 to 5 and their grown-ups at Mass Audubon's Blue Hills Trailside Museum in Milton. Each session has a theme that follows the season: deer (Nov 12), wild turkeys (Nov 19 and 28), owls (Dec 3), hibernating animals (Dec 10 and 12), evergreen trees (Dec 17), snow (Jan 7) and bears (Jan 14 and 15). A naturalist reads a picture book, then children explore the topic through nature crafts, games, a look around the museum's animal exhibits or a short walk on the trails, depending on weather and the group. The program is described as a warm, sensory-friendly first step into the natural world. Meet in the museum lobby; bathrooms and water bottle filling stations are available. Adults attend free and must stay with their child for the whole session; registration is per child.
