Children grab a screwdriver and open up old telephones, computers, radios and other electronics to see what is inside at this drop-in workshop at Discovery Museum in Acton. As they unscrew panels they find resistors, capacitors and circuit boards and learn how everyday devices are built. It suits school-age children who can handle small tools, with younger children taking part alongside a grown-up. The station runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4pm, a good after-school option, and is included with museum admission. The museum also posts a Discovery at Home page with ideas for doing a Take Aparts activity at home.
