Bootanical is Daniel Stowe Conservancy's family Halloween day in the gardens, themed this year around pirates and the sea. Children are encouraged to come in costume (sea-themed costumes are suggested but any costume is welcome) and can meet and interact with a live pirate entertainer, do ocean-inspired hands-on crafts and activities, and visit the Lost Hollow Children's Garden, where this year's Scarecrow Hollow gallery of scarecrows is on display. Kids can also meet Lotty, a new interactive underwater-creature art piece made of recycled materials. A face-painting vendor is on site for an extra fee, food trucks serve hot food and the Big Leaf Café has grab-and-go treats. Entry is with regular garden admission or membership; tickets are sold through the conservancy's ticketing portal. The event runs four hours, so families can come and go within the window.
