The Monroe Science Center is the City of Monroe's hands-on science museum on East Franklin Street in downtown Monroe, run alongside the city's Dowd Center Theatre and aquatics center. It is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sunday through Tuesday; last tickets are sold one hour before closing and there is no re-entry in the final hour. Admission includes the center's scheduled extras, such as the STEAM Station hands-on science activities on Wednesday and Friday mornings and afternoons and a Thursday 11 a.m. story time paired with a science demonstration, which makes it a good weekday stop for preschoolers and homeschoolers as well as a Saturday family outing. The city notes hours are subject to change.
