The Monroe Science Center runs two short drop-in programs for children that are included with regular admission. STEAM Station is a hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activity offered Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from 1 to 2 p.m., with a different activity each day (for example, Bubbling Cauldrons in late October). Story Time is on Thursdays at 11 a.m. for about half an hour: staff read a science-themed picture book and follow it with a live demonstration, such as Every Day Chemistry paired with a chemistry demo. Both suit preschool and early elementary children with a grown-up, and no separate registration is listed.
