Upcoming dates: Sat, Oct 17 · Sat, Oct 24
Two Halloween-season Saturdays of natural-history fun at the Museum of York County in Rock Hill. On October 17, 'Nature's Disappearing Acts' looks at animals that vanish in plain sight — from leaf insects to copperheads — with a camouflage craft and hands-on specimens from the museum's educational collection. On October 24, 'Real-Life Monster Legends' explores the real animals behind myths like the Kraken, the Chupacabra and giant sea serpents, and children design their own cryptid. Each runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as drop-in activities during a museum visit, suited to curious elementary-age kids and their families.
