About this adventure

The small Cabarrus County town of Mount Pleasant holds its Christmas parade and tree lighting together on the first Saturday of December, which in 2026 falls on December 5. The parade steps off at 3:30 p.m. and travels up East Franklin Street (Highway 73) toward the Town Square, turns right onto North Main Street, crosses Highway 49 and finishes at North Drive. Afterwards everyone gathers at Town Hall on Park Drive, behind the fire department, for the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m., with food vendors, kids' games, a DJ and what the town calls a '100% chance of snow'. Children can sign up for a chance to be picked to help light the town Christmas tree, so ask about it when you arrive or check with the town beforehand. It is a short, hometown-scale evening that suits families with young children; dress warmly and plan to walk from the parade route to Town Hall.
