About this adventure

The City of Morris presents Home for the Holidays, a three-day downtown celebration from November 27 to 29, 2026. It opens on Friday, November 27, with the Lighted Holiday Parade: entries decorated with a holiday theme, with lights encouraged, step off at 5:30 p.m. from Washington and Franklin Streets and finish at Chapin Park at about 6 p.m.; the parade is kept short, about half an hour, so other events can follow. The street is closed for the parade from 3 to 6 p.m., cars may not park along the route during that time, and parade units may hand out items only along the edge of the route rather than throw them. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Santa and his reindeer visit downtown, the Grundy Area Historical Museum shows its Festival of Trees on Friday and Saturday, food trucks set up at Wauponsee Plaza on Saturday, and downtown shops are open Friday through Sunday. The city says Home for the Holidays events are free, with the exception of the Holly Jolly Sip & Stroll scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, November 28, and the parade rules call it a fun, safe family tradition provided at no cost.
