About this adventure

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park sets aside one matinee of its holiday production of A Christmas Carol as a sensory-friendly, relaxed performance. Dickens' story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the three spirits and Tiny Tim is staged in full in Moe and Jack's Place – The Rouse Theatre, but loud sounds are lowered, strobe and strong lighting effects are reduced, and the house lights stay on, dimmed, through the show. Guests may leave and come back in, talk or vocalize at any time, and use standing and moving areas inside the theatre; a quiet space is set up in the lobby and trained staff are on hand. The performance is open to anyone but is meant for people with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, learning differences and others who need a more accommodating setting. An audience guide is emailed to ticket holders a week ahead so children can preview the visit. The show runs about 1 hour 50 minutes with a 20-minute intermission, and children under 5 are not admitted.
