About this adventure
Presenters from Newark Hopewell Earthworks visit Westerville Public Library to show children ages 6 to 11 how people in Ohio grew native plants thousands of years ago. Kids learn how archaeologists can tell these crops were cultivated, look at the foods that could be made from them, and plant a few seeds to take home. The hour connects local Indigenous history and the Hopewell earthworks, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to hands-on science. Children ages 6 and 7 need a parent or caregiver 18 or older in the room for the whole program.
