About this adventure

The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, a Thanksgiving-morning tradition since 1967, starts and finishes at Dallas City Hall downtown and offers an 8-mile or 5K run/walk with plenty of options for families. Kids 7–12 have their own youth timed and untimed entries; babies through age 6 can be registered on the Tots/Toddlers/Strollers entry and ride or walk along with a parent; and crawling babies can race the Diaper Dash, a roughly 12-foot soft-mat crawl with seven 30-minute start slots between 8:30 and 11 a.m., with a long-sleeve onesie for each participant. Timed runners start at 8:30 a.m. in a corral where strollers and dogs are not allowed; untimed families can start at 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. and walkers are asked to start at the back. A paid family hospitality area, The Roost, on City Hall Plaza serves breakfast and hot chocolate. Arrive early: parking downtown on Thanksgiving morning takes time. A virtual option runs Nov 19–Dec 3.
