About this adventure
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth's Thanksgiving-morning Turkey Trot starts at General Worth Square in downtown Fort Worth and is built as a family-friendly run, jog or walk. Children have their own 1K Gobbler Trot at 7:45 a.m., and the first 1,000 kids who take part receive a finisher award; the 5K and 8K follow at 8:30 a.m., with medals for the first 10,000 5K and 2,000 8K finishers. Strollers and dogs are welcome, so families can do the 5K together. All proceeds fund YMCA scholarships for local families. Shirts and bibs are picked up in the days before the race (Nov 21–25) at Luke's Locker and several YMCA branches. The YMCA advises arriving early and carpooling; the event goes ahead in most weather, with delays only for severe lightning.
