About this adventure
DFW Gujarati Samaj presents its Frisco Diwali Mela, billed as North Texas's largest community Diwali celebration, on the lawns of Kaleidoscope Park a week before Diwali. The free festival runs from mid-afternoon into the night: a Raam Leela stage presentation of the story of Lord Rama with a costumed community cast, dandiya and garba performances, community dance, a kids' talent stage, and a live concert headlined by singer Sunny Jadhav. Children get their own Kids' Diwali area with activities, games and a photo booth, and families can browse the Diwali Bazaar of Indian and cultural goods and eat Indian street food and sweets from local restaurants. Registered guests who are present can win hourly raffle prizes. The evening ends with a choreographed drone and laser show after dark, so families with young children may want to plan for a late night or arrive early in the afternoon. Entry and parking are free, but everyone must register online in advance to receive a QR-code ticket by email.
