Rowlett's biggest holiday celebration fills downtown Main Street on the first Saturday of December from 5 to 8:30 pm. The evening combines a Parade of Lights, a towering giant Christmas tree and costumed characters mingling with the crowd, plus a holiday market of local artisans for gift shopping, seasonal treats and live entertainment on stage. Lights and glow experiences round out the festival, and Santa makes a visit. The city does not list an admission fee on its calendar; market and treat purchases are extra. With the festival starting at 5 pm, families with young children can see the characters and Santa early and stay for the parade after dark. Check the city's event page closer to the date for the parade start time, route and parking, and dress for an outdoor evening.
