Cedar Hill's free Holiday on the Hill fills Historic Downtown Cedar Hill on a Thursday evening in early December. The city promises plenty of holiday kids' activities and games, live performances, photos with Santa Claus, festive photo spots and the official lighting of the City of Cedar Hill tree. It runs from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, so families can come straight from school or work, see Santa early before lines grow, and stay for the lighting. Admission is free. The event centers on the downtown square area around Cedar Street; dress for an outdoor evening and plan to park nearby and walk.
