For New Year's Day, the Johnson Branch Unit of Ray Roberts Lake State Park invites families to start 2027 with a First Day Hike at their own pace, on any trail and at any time the park is open (6 am to 10 pm). Tell rangers you are hiking when you arrive. When you finish, stop at Headquarters or the Nature Center, both open 8 am to 4:30 pm, to collect a First Day Hike sticker, a small reward children tend to enjoy. Phone service in the park is spotty, so the park recommends carrying a paper or downloaded trail map. Bring water, sunscreen, closed-toed shoes and clothes for the weather. All ages are welcome. The hike is included in park entry fees and may be cancelled in bad weather.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
TPWD park calendar read by curl; the header says Fri, January 01, 2027. The page mentions a 'Tri-Park-A-Thon' and a 'Guided 1st Day Hike', which are not on this unit's event list yet. Address is from the park home page.
