About this adventure
Second Saturdays at The War Memorial are two-hour themed mornings for children ages 3 to 10, each with three craft stations, storytime and a live stage show while parents get free coffee. In November the theme is Mini Makers Market: a magic show with Eugene Clark built on audience participation, a maker craft using mixed materials, modeling-clay sculpture with Creative Nature Art and Design, maker-themed coloring for the youngest, and storytime in the Community Room at 9:15 or 9:45 am with stories about creativity and invention. January's Pirate Treasure Hunt swaps in treasure maps, hidden clues, a pirate keepsake craft, an interactive challenge, clay sculpture and pirate stories in the restored Alger House Library. Tickets are $10 per child and parents attend free. The format suits preschoolers and early elementary kids who like to rotate between short hands-on activities, and it is a low-cost Saturday morning outing in the Grosse Pointes.
