About this adventure

A day of Diwali activities for young children at the Sugar Land children's museum, the day before the Festival of Lights. Kids can make Kandil lanterns, paper diya lamps for a shared banner and chalk rangoli designs all day, join Diwali craft workshops in the Art Academy (9 AM–noon), and learn the history and meaning of rangoli while creating their own design with Hindus of Greater Houston (10 AM–1 PM). Diwali storytimes run at 11 AM and 1 PM, and young performers from Silambam Houston show traditional Indian dance at noon. It is a gentle introduction to the holiday for families who celebrate and those learning about it, included with museum admission.
