About this adventure

City Ballet of Houston brings its full-length Nutcracker to Galveston's historic Grand 1894 Opera House for one December weekend, a tradition the company has kept at The Grand for more than 25 years. The ballet follows a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince, battles the Mouse King and travels to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, danced by the company and students of the Academy of City Ballet of Houston, an honor company of Regional Dance America/Southwest. With matinees on Saturday and Sunday and one early-evening show, it is a manageable first ballet for young children in an intimate 19th-century theater; older kids who dance will enjoy seeing student performers on stage. Tickets are sold through The Grand's box office.
