Houston Ballet stages one sensory-friendly performance of Stanton Welch's full-length The Nutcracker, adapted for people with sensory sensitivities and their families, including those with physical and cognitive disabilities. Designated quiet areas sit away from the main theater, guests may leave and re-enter at any time, trained volunteers are stationed throughout the building, and signage plus downloadable theater maps help with navigation. Activity stations run before and during the show. Families can prepare with Houston Ballet's written and video social narratives. The foyer opens at 11:30 AM, the house opens at 12:15 PM and the show starts at 1:00 PM; Act I runs about 45 minutes, intermission 25 minutes and Act II about 47 minutes. Call the box office for seating accommodations.
