About this adventure
The Health Museum in the Museum District runs its Discovery Camps over winter break: a three-day session on December 21–23 and a five-day session from December 28 through January 1, each from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camps are grouped by age. In the December 21–23 week, Mini Vet (ages 5–7) introduces medical tools, microscopes and owl-pellet dissection, and Junior Vet (ages 8–10) compares frog and human muscles and classifies bones. In the December 28 week, DNA Discoveries (ages 5–7) builds 3D DNA models and extracts DNA from fruit, Camp Neuron (ages 8–10) examines a real human brain and dissects a sheep brain, and Mini Medical School I (ages 11–13) covers first aid, CPR and organ anatomy. Campers bring a nonperishable lunch and a labeled water bottle; a parent signs each child in every morning. Before-care from 7:30 a.m. and after-care until 5:30 p.m. cost extra.
