About this adventure

The visitor center of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve on the Guana peninsula between Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Augustine. Its Exhibit Hall has interactive displays about the estuary, plus aquaria and terraria with local critters of the estuary, ocean and forest, including non-venomous snakes. From here families can head out on the reserve's trails or paddle Guana's waterways (rentals at Guana Outpost South, open daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; reservations recommended). The reserve also runs free monthly family programs such as seining in Guana Lake, beach walks and guided hikes, posted on its events calendar.
