About this adventure

DISCOVERY Children's Museum celebrates Nevada Day with a full day of Silver State activities on the holiday Friday. Children can make their own bighorn sheep horns, take a close look at Nevada minerals, design a state flag and build animal puppets, among other hands-on stations set up around the museum. From 1 to 3 p.m., local author Nazanin Ford gives a special read-aloud, and thanks to the library the first 100 families receive a free copy of the picture book "Over and Under the Canyon!" The activities come with regular museum admission, so families can drop in at any point between opening and closing and combine the Nevada crafts with the rest of the museum's exhibits. The read-aloud and book giveaway happen in the early afternoon, so arrive by 1 p.m. if the free book matters.
