About this adventure
During Thanksgiving week, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum hosts special guests from the Clark County Library Fossil Lab for a hands-on paleontology program. Families learn how paleontologists use fossil clues to understand prehistoric animals, then work together to build a brand-new prehistoric creature out of foam fossil bones. After building, they can photograph their creations and continue at home with a paleoart worksheet and colored pencils, using art and storytelling to imagine the creature's life and habitat. Free books are given away while supplies last. The program runs as a drop-in from 10 AM to 3 PM, is recommended for all ages, and is included with museum admission or membership; supplies are limited and first come, first served.
