Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida's 29th-anniversary production of Vladimir Issaev's Nutcracker, with the company's professional dancers performing alongside local children: dancing snowflakes, the Waltz of the Flowers, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Tchaikovsky's score. Season performances at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center are Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 13 at 5 p.m. A separate abridged, 50-minute sensory-inclusive performance on Sunday, December 13 at 11 a.m. is designed as a gentle first ballet for children and audiences who need a relaxed setting; tickets for it are requested through the Aventura Center. A gala celebration performance opens the run on Thursday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets through aventuracenter.org.
