About this adventure

On Friday evenings from late November until a week before Christmas, hundreds of glowing luminaries line Washington Avenue through historic downtown Cedarburg, and the Chamber of Commerce runs a free festive trolley with stops around downtown from 5 to 8 p.m. It is an easy, low-key way for families to see the old stone storefronts lit up, ride the trolley between shops and restaurants, and drop shopping bags off on board. Kids usually treat the trolley ride itself as the highlight. The same Friday nights, the Cedarburg Art Museum keeps its 'Twas the Night Before Christmas mansion open late with reindeer visits outside, so families can combine the two. Both the luminaries and the trolley run weather permitting, so check conditions on a stormy night. Strollers fit on the sidewalks, though December evenings can be icy; dress children warmly for walking between stops.
