About this adventure

The Kids Jingle Bell Dash is a free, short race for children that opens the Germantown Christmas Festival morning at Firemen's Park, about 15 minutes before the Candy Cane 5K Run/Walk starts. Children run a brief course from the park and back while parents cheer from the sidelines, and it is over in about ten minutes, which suits preschoolers and early-elementary kids who want to feel like real racers on a festival day. Registration is required through the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce's race page even though there is no fee, and it closes at 9 a.m. on race morning. Families who want to keep going can sign up for the family-friendly 5K Candy Cane Run/Walk at 10 a.m., which winds through quiet neighborhood streets and welcomes tots in strollers; the 5K costs $15 ($10 student pricing) and festival T-shirts are sold separately. The rest of the festival, including the parade at 1:30 p.m. and Christmas in the Park with Santa, follows in the afternoon at the same park.
