About this adventure

The Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce marks the 40th year of the Hartford Christmas Parade with a Saturday-afternoon procession through downtown Hartford in mid-November, one of the first holiday parades of the season in Washington County. The parade kicks off at 3 p.m. at Highland Avenue and Main Street and travels about a mile south along Main Street to Monroe Avenue, so families can pick a curb spot anywhere along the downtown stretch. Local businesses, clubs and organizations enter floats and units, and the parade is supported by sponsors including the downtown business association and Hartford Rotary. A daytime parade is easier with babies and preschoolers than an evening one, but mid-November afternoons can be cold, so bring blankets or chairs and dress in layers; arriving early helps with parking near Main Street. The registration and fees on the chamber's page are for parade entries, not spectators, and the page lists no charge for watching.
