About this adventure
The City of Elk River lights its biggest downtown tree yet at Rivers Edge Commons on the Thursday before Thanksgiving week. From 4 to 6 p.m. kids can make take-home crafts and do activities while they wait, and carolers from Elk River Lutheran sing; the lighting ceremony itself starts at 5 p.m. and lasts about half an hour. Children are invited to bring their letters to Santa so they reach him in time. Families can also bring a toy for the Elk River Fire Foundation's annual Fill-a-Truck Toy Drive, and downtown businesses are open for warm drinks, food and holiday shopping.
