About this adventure
Can You Dig It? is a hands-on simulated excavation at the Passaic County Archaeology Center in the Harry S. Vreeland House in Ringwood, pitched at junior explorers and their parents. Families learn how archaeologists find and study clues to the past, dig for hidden artifacts in excavation bins, sift and screen soil for tiny finds, then take their discoveries into the lab to inspect, clean and interpret them, working together in small teams. The dig runs on the patio and moves indoors in rain and in winter. Two sessions are offered on Saturday, December 5, 2026 (10:00 AM to noon and 2:00 to 4:00 PM); registration is required because space is limited.
