About this adventure

On a mid-December weeknight the West Branch library in Longwood hosts its round of the county library's Extreme Gingerbread Challenge for 8- to 12-year-olds. Tweens get graham crackers, icing and an assortment of candy and have about an hour and a half to engineer something more ambitious than a basic gingerbread house — towers, castles or anything else that will stand up. Library staff judge the creations at the end, and the most creative builder at the branch chooses a free new book to take home. The program is free and all supplies are provided, but seats are limited and pre-registration is required; sign-ups open two weeks ahead on December 1.
