About this adventure

The Electrical Spectacle Light Show presented by PECO is the centerpiece of Holidays in Franklin Square, Historic Philadelphia's winter festival in one of the city's original squares. Hundreds of thousands of LED lights are synchronized to music, from Mariah Carey and the Philly POPS to Tchaikovsky, and the show repeats every 30 minutes from 5 pm until closing, so families can arrive any time in the evening and catch one in a short wait. Watching is free. Around it the square adds a holiday version of its mini golf course, street curling, the Parx Liberty Carousel and SquareBurger, which are paid extras. Opening night on November 19 brings free performances by the Commonwealth Youth Choir, free hot chocolate and cider, and the season's first show at 6:30 pm; on November 20 the Philadelphia Dance Academy dances scenes from The Nutcracker in the square at 5 pm. The square is closed November 26, December 25 and January 1 and closes early at 8 pm on December 24 and 31.
