First State Ballet Theatre, Delaware's professional ballet company, brings The Nutcracker back to Copeland Hall at The Grand in downtown Wilmington for two December weekends. The production follows Marie and the Nutcracker Prince into a world of sparkling snowflakes and sweets, and The Grand pitches it as a holiday tradition for the whole family. Performances are Saturday, December 12 at 1 pm and 5 pm; Sunday, December 13 at 2 pm; Saturday, December 19 at 2 pm and 7 pm; and Sunday, December 20 at 2 pm. On opening day the company also holds the Sugar Plum Soirée, a family-friendly benefit event that can be added to a performance ticket. Ticket prices are shown only in the online box office; the Grand box office phone is 302.652.5577.
