About this adventure

The Sigler Western Museum and the Wickenburg Art Club have started a Youth Art Club for local middle and high school students, with new groups formed for the 2026–27 season. The November 6 session, "Beyond the Apps – Making Powerful Photos," is a two-hour photography workshop led by Donna Drake, who has a B.A. in art with a focus on photography and has taught photography to young people in the area for several years. Instead of relying on filters, students learn how to plan a picture that tells a story: a quiet moment, a landscape, action and excitement, a portrait of a friend or a pet, or simply a better selfie. The group looks at and talks about photographs together, practices a few easy techniques and then works on images of their own. The museum asks that students be comfortable with technology and already have a basic understanding of photography; the page does not list materials to bring. The workshop is free.
