About this adventure

Northwest Dance Theatre, a pre-professional youth ballet company, stages A Nutcracker Tea each December, a family-friendly abridged version of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker that has been a holiday tradition in the Portland area since 2004. Company dancers and guest dancers tell the classic story of Clara and the Nutcracker Prince with full sets and costumes, and after every performance the audience is served complimentary tea and cookies. The shorter format makes it a good first ballet for young children. Seven performances run over two weekends at the Performing Arts Center on Portland Community College's Sylvania campus, with two student casts: the Red Cast dances December 12 and 13 and the Green Cast December 18 to 20, so families following a particular dancer should pick dates carefully. Tickets are priced by seating zone, are non-refundable, and the company expects every performance to sell out, with a waitlist available. Weekend parking at PCC Sylvania is free.
