About this adventure
Forest Grove's community theater, which has staged live shows in town since 1969, puts on A Christmas Story: The Musical for the holidays as part of its 55th season, and lists it as a family show. The musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in the 1940s and his quest for an Official Red Ryder air rifle, while every adult he asks tells him he'll shoot his eye out. Familiar scenes from the film are all here: Flick's unfortunate encounter with a frozen flagpole, the pink bunny suit, the leg lamp and the schoolyard bullies, with songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the team behind Dear Evan Hansen. The run lasts three weekends, December 4 to 20. The theater's regular performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday afternoons at 2:30. Because it is a family show, children under 8 can get $9 tickets, and babies may sit on a grown-up's lap for free.
