OMSI opens in the evening with lower lighting, quieter exhibit audio and capped attendance for guests who are sensitive to noise, crowds, smells and bright light. It is aimed at families and adults who want a smaller, more adaptive museum visit. Tickets are capped at 400 (around 200 usually attend). Open areas include the featured exhibition, the Natural Sciences Hall, the Science Playground for ages 0-6 (with a story time at 7:30 p.m.) and the Kendall Planetarium, which runs its Starry Nights Live show back to back in an open-house format between 6 and 8 p.m. with doors left open. A quiet room is available in Science Playground, and sensory kits with headphones and fidget toys are at the front desk. The restaurant and cafe are closed. OMSI publishes a downloadable sensory guide, and OMSI for All discount tickets can be used. Tickets go on sale Dec. 14.
