About this adventure

Apex American Legion Post 124 holds the town's annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Downtown Service Memorial at the corner of Saunders Street and North Salem Street. The hour-long morning gathering honors people who have served in the U.S. armed forces; members of Apex public safety, the Town Council and the community share words, and the program includes moments of reflection at the memorial. For families it is a short, respectful way to explain Veterans Day to children, and Scouts, students and young people with veterans in the family often attend; the memorial is in historic downtown Apex, so it is easy to stay for breakfast or a walk on Salem Street afterward. Salem Street and part of Saunders Street close for the ceremony; if the weather is bad it moves indoors to Apex Fire Station 1 at 210 N. Salem Street.
