About this adventure
A 174-acre park in south Raleigh built around Historic Yates Mill, the last operable water-powered gristmill in Wake County, restored to working order by 2005 and listed on the National Register. Families can walk the trails around the 20-acre mill pond, fish, picnic and visit the A.E. Finley Center for Education and Research, the park's education building. The inside of the mill is open only during scheduled tours; the mill tour season runs from March through November, with the schedule and public program registration on the park's Programs and Events pages. Monthly program flyers (October and November 2026 are posted) list naturalist hikes and family programs.
