A two-hour hands-on workshop at Sunnylands Center & Gardens in Rancho Mirage on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 10 am, exploring sun printing (cyanotypes), one of the earliest photographic printing methods. Photographer Rose Cefalu guides participants through coating cold-press watercolor paper with light-sensitive emulsion, contact-printing an enlarged negative in the sun's UV light and rinsing the prints clear; everyone leaves with four to eight finished cyanotypes. Sunnylands says the workshop is especially enjoyable for families: it is open to ages 18 and up, or children as young as 8 with an accompanying adult. The fee is $88.35 per participant with all materials included; space is limited to 20 guests and fees are nonrefundable within 10 days of the event. Arrive 15 minutes early and check in at reception.
