The touring production Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet, presented by Talmi Entertainment, makes a one-night stop at Jacobs Music Center in downtown San Diego on Tuesday, December 15, at 7 p.m. Billed as the largest Nutcracker production in North America, it sets Tchaikovsky's score to a staging with international ballet dancers, acrobatics, elaborate costumes and towering puppets, which tends to hold the attention of children who are new to ballet. It is a rental event in the symphony's hall, so the San Diego Symphony Orchestra does not perform in it; tickets are sold through the symphony's site. The page gives no age guidance or run time, so families with very young children may want to check before booking an evening show on a school night. For other Nutcracker productions around the county, see the separate listings for the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, City Ballet, San Diego Ballet and Golden State Ballet.
