About this adventure
Parks Tacoma's New Year's Day tradition: participants plunge, or walk, into Puget Sound at Point Defiance Marina. All ages are welcome, and youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants register online for a half-hour time slot between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (the last plunge starts at 12:30 p.m.). Lifeguards are stationed on the docks, divers are in the water, and life jackets are available to borrow. Shoes or foot protection are highly recommended, and costumes are encouraged. Plungers receive a commemorative patch while supplies last. Early check-in with wristband pickup is offered Dec. 29–31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Marina Store.
