Pawsome Readers: Read to Therapy Dogs at Safety Harbor Public Library

About this adventure

Pawsome Readers is a beginning-reading program at the Safety Harbor Public Library where children ages 11 and under practice reading aloud to specially trained therapy dogs. Reading to a patient, non-judgmental listener takes the pressure off kids who are just learning or who feel shy reading in front of people, and many children simply love the chance to sit with a friendly dog. Sessions last an hour on a weekend morning, and families can drop in — no registration is required. Bring a favorite book from home or pick one from the children's shelves when you arrive. Two upcoming sessions fall in the window: a Saturday in November and a Sunday in mid-January.
