About this adventure
A ranger-led Halloween night hike that swaps neighborhood sidewalks for sandy trails. The group sets out after sunset from the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge parking lot and walks through the maritime forest to the beach, listening for night creatures, learning about animals that thrive in the dark and stargazing if skies are clear. Expect about 2 miles round trip, partly over soft sand, so it suits children who can walk that distance at night. Flashlights are provided; dress for the weather and bring insect spray. It costs $10 per person plus the standard entry fee, and reservations through SignUpGenius are required.
