About this adventure

The DowntownDC Holiday Market, now in its 22nd year, closes F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets and fills it with a winter village of 121 local makers, artists and small businesses selling handmade gifts, art and seasonal treats under strings of lights. Families get more than shopping: the organizer runs a children's play area, Rudolph Reindeer Games, next to the market's performance stage, so younger kids have something to do while adults browse. Admission is free; only purchases cost money, and most vendors take cards. The market opens Friday, November 13 and runs daily through December 23 (closed Thanksgiving Day), with longer Friday and Saturday hours. Restrooms are on 8th Street NW behind the Winter Chalet. Pair a visit with the free Frosted light display at Franklin Park or the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery beside the market. Gallery Place–Chinatown Metro (Red, Yellow and Green lines) has exits at 7th & F and 9th & G Streets NW.
