Play Date at NMNH is the Natural History Museum's free, drop-in Tuesday program for early learners and their caregivers, and the October 27 session, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, is all about bats for Bat Week. Families make observations of different bat species for the museum's specimen collection, explore play activities related to bats and find out why almost all bat species hang upside down. Activities are designed with young children in mind, but all ages are welcome. It takes place in the Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals on the first floor. Space depends on the hall, so the program may be at capacity when you arrive; the museum suggests exploring other areas and trying again later in the session. ASL interpretation, real-time captioning or audio description can be requested at least two weeks ahead at (202) 633-5238 or NMNHAccessibility@si.edu.

Published details checked online. Contact responsiveness and live booking availability have not been confirmed.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation

Read from the Smithsonian's own Trumba events feed (si.edu events calendar), which lists each session as its own entry. The Smithsonian feed does not print this museum's street address and no address page could be read (npg.si.edu/visit returned 403), so only 'Washington, DC' is given. Separate session from the already-listed Play Date: Awesome Arachnids (Oct 20), Animal Spotlight - Bison (Nov 3) and The World & Me: Bat Week Extravaganza (Oct 31).
